Happy Birthday to Us!

We’re celebrating! On this day, 30 years ago our founder and CEO, James Urdang formally registered Education Africa as a non-profit organisation, with the support of Walter Sisulu and Dr Aggrey Klaaste – so today makes it our birthday!

It’s a fun day at the office but this felt like the perfect time to reflect on the past 30 years and give our many thanks. Over the years, Education Africa has continuously committed to Making real change Happen by providing Poverty alleviation through Education and we are proud to have been able to initiate and support many impactful projects since our inception.

This would not have been possible without the support we’ve received during the last three decades. There are thousands of people who have assisted us in our quest. Everyone’s help – however big or small, is greatly appreciated and we hope that we will continue to receive your kind support. It’s been thirty years, but Education Africa’s focus stays the same – to make a meaningful contribution to the education, growth, and development of previously disadvantaged communities, so that we can Educate • Equip • Empower for many more decades to come.

Celebrate with us by popping us a birthday message on any of our social media platforms, we would love to hear from you! And if you’d like to make our day extra special, please consider nominating Education Africa as your charity of choice for Amazon Smile and MySchool card (South Africa only). A cost-free way to contribute to our goal of Making real change Happen.
